We are seeking full-time research associates (1–2 post-master’s and 1 post-doctoral) for a minimum one-year appointment. Prior experience with nonhuman primate (NHP) experiments is a plus but not essential. We also welcome applicants with strong backgrounds in human psychophysics, systems neuroscience, computation, or engineering.

Please contact Soo Hyun directly via email (soohyunpark at kaist.ac.kr) with:

  • a brief summary of your expertise, interests, and goals

  • your CV

  • the names and contact information of at least two references

Prospective Graduate students
대학원생 (석박사통합과정)

Prof. Park is taking graduate students for the fall of 2026. Interested students should apply for the KAIST BCS Department graduate program (integrated master’s & phd program). KAIST graduate applications take place in April and July for the Fall and Spring semesters of the following year, respectively. Feel free to contact Prof. Park (soohyunpark at kaist.ac.kr) to learn more about the research and life in the lab.

  • We welcome curious, motivated, and thoughtful students who are interested in how the brain supports perception, cognition, and behavior.

Our lab regularly hosts research interns who are exploring whether our research topics, methods, and lab environment are a good fit for their academic goals. We view internships not just as short-term tasks, but as a period of mutual exploration — where we learn about you, and you learn about how we work.

⚠️ Please note that participating in an internship does not guarantee admission to KAIST graduate programs or placement in this lab.
Admission is handled independently through the department, and official lab affiliation is finalized only after mutual agreement following admission.

    🧪 Internship Structure

    • Who: Undergraduate or master's level students interested in systems/cognitive/biological neuroscience, neural data analysis using computational skills, or behavior & mind

    • Duration: Ideally 6+ months (during semester: ~10–15 hours/week; during breaks: full-time preferred)

    • Activities: Behavioral or neural data analysis, experiment observation, literature reading, depending on your background

    • Participation levels:

      • Interns with high engagement may receive regular feedback and mentoring

      • Others may begin with project-based or observational tasks depending on readiness

    🗓️ Timing

    We accept internship inquiries year-round.
However, if you're considering applying to KAIST graduate programs and wish to gain lab experience beforehand, we strongly recommend contacting us at least 6 months before the application deadline. Late inquiries may still be considered, but we prioritize those who initiate earlier.

    📬 How to Apply

Please send the following to soohyunpark at kaist.ac.kr

    • A brief CV (including programming, research, or relevant coursework)

    • A short statement of interest (max 1 page) including: why you’re interested, your goals, and any specific interests in our lab’s work

    • Your availability (semester or vacation period)

We will follow up with a short meeting if your interests align with our current capacity.

*Most interns are currently enrolled undergraduate students. 인턴은 주로 학부 재학생을 대상으로 운영됩니다.
*If you have already graduated and are interested in full-time research experience, please we should discuss paid RA opportunities instead. Different expectations will be applied to different cases after a one-on-one discussion. 졸업생의 경우 전일제 연구참여를 희망한다면 연구보조원(RA) 형태의 참여 방식을 개별 문의해 주세요.
